Forever Strong

Scott & I went to see this movie Friday night. It was awesome! You will laugh, probably cry & go home feeling good. Can't wait until it comes out on DVD.

And although it doesn't say this in the movie - "Forever Strong" is the story of an LDS seminary teacher who became a championship Rugby coach for Utah's Highland Rugby team and who over the years, coached them to over 18 national Rugby championships. (Well it doesn't say the part about the coach being LDS).

Payday!

Brandi got her very first paycheck today. She was so excited. She has been anxiously waiting for it. (Even though money means nothing to Brandi). It was over $40.00 so I was excited. Not bad for putting cookies on a tray. :)

Spirit week - Twin day

It is also spirit week for Payne Jr. High. Sydney & her cousin Sami decorated their shirts. I should have taken a picture of Sydney yesterday when she had "crazy hair day" and colored her hair all sorts of colors with markers. It shows up good on her blonde hair. It was cool looking.

Homemade rolls - Yum!

One of my favorite foods is homemade bread/rolls. I haven't made them very many times in my life, but my family loves them too, so I decided to get the Bosch out and get busy making some. They aren't Texas Roadhouse rolls (the best!) but I thought they turned out good.

An awesome book

A friend (thanks Noreen) got me this book for my birthday. I totally recommend it. It is a fun, easy to read book. It has short stories & quotes so I love to pick it up when I have a minute or when I need a quick pick me up when I am feeling low. I have always loved Hilary Weeks' music, now I love her book. You can find it at Deseret Book (one of my favorite stores). I give it 5 stars!

Scott

Scott has been working in feeder (driving the big semi trucks) at UPS since February of 2006. The job itself has been more enjoyable for Scott, the bad part is that he was moved from #2 seniority spot in package driving, to the #133 in feeder for picking work schedules. Feeder is a 24 hour/day operation. He works days sometimes, but has to work nights most of the time. He does enjoy having the air conditioning. (Delivery drivers don't have any.)
Scott really enjoys teaching the Gospel Doctrine class at church.

Scott went to Aaronic Priesthood camp in July. He brought the horses up to that. They didn't use the horses for any official activities, but he and his buddy Brent got to take a few rides in the forest. (That's his truck and trailer in the bottom right of the picture.) He basically just helped wherever they needed him. For one activity he dressed up (in what really looked like a dress) as the ancient prophet Mormon. It was a fun camp. They actually had a live bison there. The boys were taught about the difference between 'using' and 'abusing' animals, and having respect for nature. Then the bison was killed and the boys got to help skin and butcher it. Then they dug a big BBQ pit and they all had roast bison for dinner one night. They had some rain and he was able to get this cool picture of the double rainbow.

Scott brought some horses up to girl's camp too and helped out with the 4th year horseback riding. This is him opening a gate for the girls.

This picture was from Christmas 07 - Scott, sister Sandy, brother Tommy. Scott lost his brother, Tommy Wright to a heart attack in March of this year. It was quite a shocker and such a sad time.

I love holding Lucy. I get to start watching her a few days out of the week at the end of September. My sister's tease me that I won't get anything done, that I will just sit around and hold Lucy. I love being a grandma!

My good friend Noreen Mortensen came to visit me at Education week. I miss her so much now that she has moved to Utah.

This is something our church puts on, it is so awesome. It's held on the BYU campus - there are tons of classes offered to take - from organization, gardening, how to be a better parent, have a better marriage, learning the scriptures...and even classes on dancing. We tried the salsa dancing class just for fun. Don't ask me to demonstrate. :)You get to choose from about 25 classes each hour and you can get in 10 classes each day. Of course, you miss a few because of eating and shopping. Some of my favorite classes are the ones for the youth because the speakers are so fun and have you laughing alot, yet you leave feeling so good. This was our third year to go and I love it! What a spiritually uplifting week it was, and such a blast. John Bytheway is one of our favorites. He is so cool. Love him. It was fun to stay in the apartment with my sisters, Amy & my aunt Clara. A big thanks to Scott for taking vacation time to watch the kids so I could go. I am already looking forward to next year.

In June I went to girls camp with Courtney, Kristen & Sydney. I was over the Humanitarian project. We put together care packages for the missionaries serving from our stake and all the girls wrote to them. This picture was taken on our way home when I realized we didn't get a group shot yet, so we aren't looking our best after 5 days of camping. Another big thanks to Scott for taking vacation time to watch the kids so I could go. I hope I get to go back next year.

Mother's Day - May 2008. All my cute kids! This picture was taken at the Grand Canyon - August 2007. My siblings, George, George's dad, Amy, and nephews Nick & Chad & I hiked Havasupia. It was so much fun, but hard work. I even hiked down the "death trap" at Mooney Falls. I am extremely afraid of heights, so this was huge for me, anyone who has been there will know what I am talking about. This was an experience I will never forget.

October 2007 - Because Nellie loved animals so much, we got a zoo membership. It's way hot to go during the summer, but when the weather was cooler it was awesome and the animals were more active.

Nellie turned four on August 5th. She was an aunt to Lucy when she was 3 years old. Nellie doesn't talk much. She knows some sign language and makes up some of her own. She is starting to learn more words everyday. Yesterday she said Dora for the first time. Dora is her very favorite show to watch. She LOVES her. Nellie is very active. She loves to swim, read books, play outside, ride her tricycle and play with Laci her cousin. She loves animals. She is a mess maker, but I love her anyway! :)

Haley is 10 now. December 5th is her birthday. She is in the 5th grade at Freedom school. She likes math and art and just joined the running club. She loves to play with her cousins. She likes to be goofy and make people laugh. She has fun dancing around.

June 08- Girls camp - Sydney went on her first snipe hunt. She wanted me to go with her. Putting toothpaste on your face will keep the snipes from biting you. :) We didn't catch any.

Sydney turned 13 on March 8th. She goes to Payne Jr. High and is in 8th grade. Sydney loves to babysit, is great at math, loves email, and enjoys Young Women's. She can't wait until she turns 14 so she can start wearing makeup.

Girl's camp June 2008. Kristen had so much fun being a 4th year. They camp in a different spot then the rest of us. Some of their fun includes.. going on a long hike, canoeing, swimming, horseback riding, some archery, and they even catch crawdads and eat them (yuck!).

Kristen turned 15 on May 12th, which means a driving permit will be in the near future. Yipes! Kristen is a sophmore and enjoys school. She enjoys her friends and is still boy crazy. She loves going to the stake dances, being crazy, taking pictures and drawing.

Courtney is a senior at Basha High school. She has been busy filling out forms for scholarships -she is hoping to go to BYU. I know, I know... she might meet someone from far away. I can't think about that right now. She is putting applications in for other colleges in Arizona too. She loves school and is working hard at keeping her grades up.

Happy Birthday to Courtney!

Courtney turned 18 on Sept 5th. She had a crazy party with over 30 kids showing up. They sang & danced for hours. It was fun - although a little loud!

Courtney works at Brunswick Zone. She really likes it. She pretty much gets to pick her own schedule and never has to work on Sunday's so that is great.
Between school, work, hanging out with friends and church activities, she stays plenty busy.
